Yesterday, we had a new oven installed and it was the highlight of my week.
OK, that might sound a little strange, but even my husband came home from work with a skip in his step. Our old oven, you see, had been on its last legs for quite some time. Anything it touched burnt to a crisp. Baking cakes, biscuits or cupcakes was an adventure best left unexplored (unless you like food that is black on the outside and gooey on the inside).
The new oven, on the other hand, is beautiful, shiny and new – and manages to keep temperature properly! I’m not much of a cook (thankfully I married someone who is brilliant in the kitchen) but even I felt like channelling Martha Stewart last night. So I made some little pink cupcakes. Although they’re just a packet mix from Coles, I was pretty chuffed with how they turned out. And most importantly, they were delicious!
